Apartheid er en fortsat virksom struktur i Sydafrika

E ast London, Eastern Cape, Sydafrika ABSTRACT:: This essay tells about my experience of race in South Africa. Five years ago I travelled to South Africa for the first time, and what I met did not at all correspond with the dreams of the freedom struggle against apartheid, nor resembled Nelson Mandela’s rainbow nation. It seems we are still on our way towards a new South Africa. I recently have read Critique of Black Reason by Achille Mbembe where he gives an understanding of race and why it is difficult to create a world not based on hierarchization of human types. I also include Sisonko Msimangs TED-talk about the four Mandalas, where she concludes that race is a distraction. In South Africa I find myself constantly trapped between black and white, although I try to avoid it.
